A high-torque engine and extra large tires will make your 1-ton truck perform beyond your wildest imagination. But how do you put all that power and traction to use without destroying your drivetrain? It's easy with a Clothier Transmission Adapter. Now you can install a SAE #2 manual transmission from a 5 to 10-ton commercial truck behind your Chevy/GM 4 Bolt Main engine.

Why settle for a 6.66 to 1 first gear ratio with a SM465 or NP435 four-speed transmission when you can step up to a 9 to 1 or lower first gear and at least six or seven speeds with a modern day 5 to 10-ton transmission? Even the weakest SAE #2 transmission is approximately three times the size and strength of a stock 1-ton gearbox, yet it has much lower gearing and is fully synchronized.

SAE #2 transmissions are ideal for pulling heavy loads on the highway, as well as crawling over severe terrain off-road. They will easily take 700 ft-lbs. of continuous input torque, and enable the use of much larger U-joints and driveshafts. They will fit beneath most 1-ton trucks with only minor modifications. And best of all, there are literally hundreds of different SAE #2 size transmissions to choose from, and they are abundantly available from salvage yards at extremely reasonable prices.

Massive 16.25" diameter SAE #2 flywheel CNC machined from a solid billet of 1045 carbon steel. Dynamically balanced with a Blanchard Ground clutch surface. Accepts any 14" diameter SAE #2 clutch.
Clutch housing adapter CNC machined from A36 structural steel. Specially designed to bolt any SAE #2 bell housing directly to a 4 Bolt Main engine. Features precision Blanchard Ground surface on both sides.

If you've shopped for tire chains before, you probably discovered that most manufacturers sell universal designs that rarely fit your tires as intended. They typically include tensioners to reduce slack, but these devices are frequently destroyed or lost in severe off-road conditions. And finding chains for your extra-large tires is virtually impossible. That is, until now.


Clothier puts more chain between tire and terrain
Clothier Traction Chains are fitted to your exact brand, model and size of tire all the way up to 52" in diameter. We guarantee a perfect fit every time without any tensioners to worry about. To ensure you always have chain between tire and terrain, we add cross treads to every 2nd link. That's twice as many as our competitors! On tires up to 40" in diameter, we use 5/16" chain - the same size used by tractor trailers. On tires larger than 40", we step up to 3/8" chain.

All Clothier Traction Chains feature welded V-Bar construction, case hardened for maximum longevity. The V-Bar cleats create high pressure points that bite into ice, creating unbelievable grip so you can claw, climb or stop with confidence.
